Red House – Arts & Crafts Fair

13th & 14th July 2013.
Red House, built by Philip Webb for William Morris and completed in 1860 is justly considered the cradle of the Arts & Crafts Movement. Maintaining the hand-made ethos of William Morris, all exhibitors have crafted their own products or are selling artefacts linked to the Arts & Crafts movement. The Arts & Crafts Fair is held in the grounds of Red House.

Combining rebellion, beauty, scientific precision and imaginative grandeur, the Pre-Raphaelites constitute Britain’s first modern art movement.
This exhibition brought together over 150 works in different media, including the stunning tapestry for William Morris’s bed at Kelmscott Manor (pictured).

Two Temple Place - William Morris: Story, Memory, Myth

In October 2011 the Bulldog Trust opened Two Temple Place, their magnificent neo-gothic headquarters on the Embankment, for the first time. William Morris: Story, Memory, Myth was the first of an annual series of exhibitions intended to raise awareness of museums and galleries outside London. The project was presented in partnership with the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow which was closed for refurbishment at the time.

Archive Collections – Celebrating 150 Years of Design

In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Morris & Co., an inspirational collection of tapestries, velvets, embroideries, damasks and printed fabrics was launched at London Design Week, The Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, 13th – 17th March 2011. Twice the size of the usual Morris & Co. collection, it makes use of technology to create fabrics and wallpapers closer to the originals than ever before. The collection features designs from the Morris & Co. archive alongside new interpretations of Morris designs from other sources.
